History

G Moriarty and Sons Electrical Contractors was started in the 1950s by Gene Moriarty at 15 Charles St, Listowel.

Originally from Ballylongford, Gene was an avid competitive cyclist, a lifelong GAA man and a keen supporter of all sports. He was deeply involved in the community, the arts and politics.

After attending secondary school at St. Michaels College Listowel. He was successful in being admitted to the ESB (Electricity Supply Board of Ireland), then a fledgling organisation tasked with electrifying Ireland.

He excelled at his craft, qualified, and eventually left the comfort of the ESB to set up his own enterprise, which continues to this day.

In the 1970’s, Genes sons Tadhg, Sean and Eoin joined the business. Tadhg and Sean then welcomed the third generation, Conor Moriarty, in the mid-1990s. Today Tadhg and Conor remain the principals, with the 4th generation not too far away.

The engineering, business, community, sporting and artistic traditions Gene was renowned for, continue to be remembered and supported even after nearly 70 years.
